One of our larger customer came via a twitter conversation.
About 10 months ago we manage to secure a deal with a very large company, listed in the ASX top 200. Our CEO Steve Orenstein came across a senior employee within the logistics division of the business and sent them a tweet to organise a time for a meeting to chat about Zoom2u. From there came a number of meetings through which a deal was done! That deal has since lead to further deals and is progressing to be rolled out across the country. That one tweet was certainly worth it…
Our second full time person was a Data Analyst
Today in every business, understanding data and performance of your company is vital. At Zoom2u it has been a critical part of our success in growing the business and also making sure we maintain the quality of our service. Steve hired Sonia Buckley as the second person to join our team after our head of operations Jade Rose. He knew that understanding all aspects of how the business was performing and making decisions based on what the data said was critical to the growth and success of the business. The data helped us understand where best we should be spending money from a marketing point of view and also identity areas of the business which could be improved.
The name Zoom2u came via a Google search
When Steve decided to start a new company to deliver a completely different customer experience to the logistics industry, the first thing he needed was a great name. Deciding on a catchy and memorable new company name is never easy, however these days, trying to find one that also has a free .com domain name is a particularly challenging process.
Steve went to Google and searched ‘courier company name ideas’, coming across this site: https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080515100850AAtUIxH#. Reading through the list of names he saw Zoom2u. Instantly he knew that title perfectly outlined the company’s premise, and the 2 has become his trademark in company names (his previous company ‘Connect2Field’ was acquired by a USA company Fleetmatics (NYSE:FLTX). At the time the .com domain name wasn’t available, but after doing a quick whois search and finding the owner he managed to buy the company name for $1000!
