One of the greatest gifts you can give to your team (and other teams!) is teaching them how to be resilient at work.

Have you ever managed someone who was a rockstar at their job until something tough came along? Maybe you had to give them some feedback or a big deal didn’t go their way. Did you watch as they quickly lost motivation and became a total downer for the team?

I bet you remember how long it took to get that person back on track and performing at their best again. It’s tough seeing someone go from being one of the best to one of the worst, isn’t it?

Now, imagine if every person on your team had the ability to quickly bounce back from setbacks and challenges. Imagine how much smoother and more productive your team could be if everyone had a resilient mindset.

Think about those salespeople who have that “thick skin.” They are able to handle rejection and disappointment and keep pushing forward. That’s what resilience in the workplace looks like. When employees are resilient, they are better equipped to handle the ups and downs of work and stay motivated and productive, even in tough times.

So, how can you help your team develop resilience? That’s what we’re going to dive into next!

Here are a few tips to get started:

Show Resilience

If you want your team to be resilient, it’s important to demonstrate this trait yourself. Share your own experiences of overcoming challenges and setbacks, and how you were able to bounce back.

Encourage Mindfulness

Encourage your team to take time for themselves and practice mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing exercises or a simple break outside in the sun, eyes closed and listen to the sounds of the city. This will help them stay calm and centered even in the face of stress and adversity.

Lead a Positive Mindset

Encourage your team to focus on the ‘glass half full’ in a situation and to look for opportunities in the challenges. This may help them think of challenges with a can-do attitude.

Promote a Growth Mindset

A growth mindset is a belief that your abilities can be developed through hard work, dedication and focus on a task(s).

Celebrate Successes

It’s important to recognize and celebrate any successes of the team. Celebrating successes, big and small.

Leading your team to be resilient is a key aspect of effective leadership.

By modeling the right series of aspects at the right time mentioned above can help your team develop the mental toughness and determination they need to succeed.
