Today, we are excited to announce that we have secured $1.85 million of further investment to fund our expansion to more people and places across Australia!
When we launched in October 2014 we began to grow quickly, signing up over 14,000 customers across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane very fast. Our CEO Steve Orenstein raised an initial investment of $850k in June 2015, which helped us reach more happy customers all around our 3 first cities much faster.
The second round has seen existing experienced technology investors Anthony Klok and Tony Gandel, founder of Gandel Invest, re-invest. Mike Rosenbaum, founder at Spacer.com.au and former co-founder at Deals Direct has also invested in Zoom2u.
We now have plans to expand our network across Australia, to cover additional metropolitan cities and also regional areas for the first time. Specifically the funding will be used to hire new staff across operations, development, sales and marketing, with a focus on helping businesses of all sizes deliver goods to our customers at speed.
“I set up Zoom2u in response to the frustration I was personally experiencing with the courier service in Australia. Notes from couriers would be left that they were trying to deliver a parcel. I’d then have to reorganise for it to be delivered, wait not knowing when it would arrive or stand in a long post office queue. Having our own network of couriers, rather than re-packaging existing services, means we can deliver a hassle-free and more efficient service,” says Steve Orenstein, founder and CEO of Zoom2u.
Anthony Klok commented: “Australians are fed up waiting in lengthy post office lines and sitting around waiting for couriers to arrive. With Zoom2u, customers can track their parcel in real-time and know exactly when it will be delivered. The courier is actually compensated to put the parcel in the customer’s hands.”
Mike Rosenbaum is keen to support Zoom2u in their mission to transform parcel delivery in Australia. “My experience running Deals Direct certainly taught me that logistics companies are the face of e-commerce companies today. As an online retailer, there is no point investing hundreds of thousands of dollars on a great website experience enabling your customers to buy from you, if the delivery lets you down.”
